This versatile recipe is a great way to elevate any type of bread you have into a flavorful and comforting treat. The combination of garlic, herbs, and optional cheese adds a fantastic flavor to the crispy, toasted bread.

Ingredients

  • Garlic bread
  • Hot dog buns, or Italian sub buns, or whatever bread you have
  • Butter
  • Garlic
  • Italian seasoning
  • Hot sauce
  • Cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Garlic Butter Mixture:
    • Start by melting butter in a small saucepan or in the microwave. The amount of butter will depend on how many pieces of bread you plan to prepare.
    • Once the butter is melted, add finely minced garlic to it. The amount of garlic can be adjusted based on your taste preference.
    • Stir in Italian seasoning to the garlic butter for an extra layer of flavor. The herbs in the Italian seasoning will infuse the butter with a delightful aroma.
    • For a spicy kick, add a few drops of your favorite hot sauce to the mixture. This step is optional and can be adjusted according to how much heat you like.
  2. Prep Your Bread:
    • You can use hot dog buns, Italian sub buns, or any bread you have available. Slice the bread if it’s not already in individual pieces. For sub buns, you might want to split them in half lengthwise.
  3. Spread the Garlic Butter:
    • Generously spread the garlic butter mixture over each piece of bread. Make sure to cover the edges for a uniform flavor in every bite.
  4. Add Cheese (Optional):
    • If you like cheesy garlic bread, sprinkle your favorite shredded cheese over the buttered bread. Mozzarella, Parmesan, or a blend of Italian cheeses work wonderfully.
  5. Bake the Garlic Bread:
    • Preheat your oven to a moderate temperature, around 350°F (175°C).
    • Place the buttered and optionally cheesed bread on a baking sheet.
    • Bake in the oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the bread is toasted to your liking and the cheese (if used) is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serving:
    • Once done, remove the garlic bread from the oven. Let it cool for a minute or two before slicing (if needed) and serving.
    • Serve the garlic bread as a side with pasta, soup, salad, or enjoy it as a delicious snack on its own.
