Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 16-inch loaf of French bread
  • Filet mignon, sliced thinly
  • Fresh garlic, minced
  • Red bell peppers, diced
  • Onions, diced
  • Mushrooms, sliced
  • Malbec wine for deglazing
  • Provolone cheese slices
  • Cheese whiz
  • Mayonnaise
  • Banana peppers, sliced
  • Zucchini, cut into sticks for fries

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meat:
    • Season the filet mignon slices with salt, pepper, and minced garlic.
    • In a hot pan, sear the slices until they reach your desired doneness. Remove and set aside.
  2. Cook the Vegetables:
    • In the same pan, sauté the onions, red bell peppers, and mushrooms. Cook until softened.
    • Deglaze the pan with Malbec, scraping up the tasty brown bits for extra flavor.
  3. Assemble the Sandwich:
    • Slice the French bread lengthwise.
    • Spread a generous layer of mayonnaise on both sides of the bread.
    • Layer the cooked filet mignon slices on the bottom half of the bread.
    • Top the meat with the sautéed vegetables and deglaze mixture.
    • Add slices of provolone cheese on one half and spoon cheese whiz on the other.
    • Place under a broiler for a few minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
    • Add sliced banana peppers on top of the melted cheese.
  4. Prepare the Zucchini Fries:
    • Cut zucchini into sticks and season as desired.
    • Dip in a light batter or breadcrumb mixture if preferred.
    • Fry in hot oil until golden and crispy.
  5. Serve:
    • Cut the sandwich into portions.
    • Serve with a side of zucchini fries and extra banana peppers or a dipping sauce if desired.
