Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 ripe avocados
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 oz sour cream
  • 1 package taco seasoning mix
  • 1 cup freshly grated Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 cup freshly grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 green onions, chopped
  • 2 medium tomatoes, diced
  • 1 can sliced black olives, drained
  • 1 jar of store-bought salsa (such as Tostitos)
  • Tortilla chips, for serving

Instructions

  1. Begin by preparing your 9×13 inch pan where you will assemble the dip layers.
  2. Mash the avocados in a bowl, adding lime juice, salt, and pepper to taste. Spread this mixture as the first layer in your 9×13 pan.
  3. Whip the sour cream until smooth, which will make it easier to spread. Mix in the taco seasoning thoroughly. Gently spread this over the avocado layer.
  4. Sprinkle the freshly grated Monterey Jack cheese evenly over the sour cream layer.
  5. Add the sharp cheddar cheese as the next layer, ensuring an even distribution.
  6. Sprinkle the chopped green onions over the cheese.
  7. Add a layer of diced tomatoes, spreading them out to cover the onions.
  8. Layer the sliced black olives on top of the tomatoes.
  9. Finally, carefully spread the salsa over the olives.
  10. Cover and refrigerate the dip for at least an hour to allow the flavors to meld.
  11. Serve with hearty tortilla chips that can stand up to the dip without breaking.
